Markus Kuhlmann is a researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research (IPK) in Gatersleben, where he works in the Heterosis group within the Department of Molecular Genetics.
His research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms in plants, particularly regulatory pathways mediated by small RNAs and DNA methylation in response to abiotic stress. He uses Arabidopsis thaliana and barley as model systems to investigate epigenetic regulation under drought stress conditions. He has been re-elected Treasurer of the society.
