The GEN-AG Fungal Genetics was established in 2011 and currently has around 40 members. It brings together researchers who use fungi as model organisms and apply genetic approaches to address biological questions.
The aim of the GEN-AG Fungal Genetics is to promote research using fungal model systems and to organize joint meetings with other scientific societies. In addition, the group seeks to represent the field of fungal genetics through dedicated symposia at the annual meetings of the German Genetics Society (GfG).

The annual Molecular Biology of Fungi meeting will be held this year at the Technical University of Braunschweig, jointly with the 16th Symposium of the VAAM Special Interest Group "Biology and Biotechnology of Fungi."
