The German Genetics Society (GfG) annually awards the Elisabeth Gateff Prize, endowed with €3,000, in recognition of an outstanding doctoral thesis in the field of genetics.

Applications may be submitted within one year of the doctoral degree, either by self-nomination or by nomination from others. Applicants must be members of the German Genetics Society. The thesis must be written in either German or English and must have been carried out predominantly in Germany (or by German doctoral researchers working abroad).

All submissions are evaluated by a selection committee composed of members of the GfG Executive Board and Advisory Board.
